Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou is the youngest of four children born on August 9th, 1976 at Beaumont Puy in Domme. At a young age, her dental doctor parents as well as her teacher mother encouraged her passion of drama and theater. The passion for theater was the one that overshadowed her initial wish to be the first primatologist. She rose to prominence as a child actor quickly and enjoyed enormous achievement. Prior to beginning an acting career she participated in Jeunes Premiers an French television show that sought to find talent that was sponsored by Canal+ in 1998. The program also awarded her the title of The award for the Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. Apart from her acting profession, she has was also interested in modelling. She was the model of L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and is known as "The Chanel Muse". Also, she has an intense interest in photography and recently presented an exhibit of her work during the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. Her photos are mostly about the spotlight and fame. The exhibit also includes an assortment of portraits of herself as well. Audrey Tautou became a star after her international fame was established with her debut role as Amelie Poulain from Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie was an international box-office hit, receiving accolades at awards galas around all over the world. Amelie is the most successful French film across the US. The popularity of the film has led to Tautou being cast in a range of roles, from British dramas such as Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
