Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. She is an actress as well as a singer and dancer. In her early Broadway performances, she starred in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across the stage, film and TV and she is continuing her award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC as a Hulu Original. Ashford returns to Broadway on March 20, 2023 with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the crisis in America that picked across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment proceedings in over 100 years. In two seasons, Ashford played a prominent role in CBS's hit comedy B Positive. The show was written by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. It also included Ben Vereen as well as Hector Elizondo. Some other Broadway roles for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received the Tony Award nomination. Ashford has been raised in Denver, now spends time in Los Angeles and New York.
